The feet really are the foundation of the body. Every bone, tissue and tendon in the foot plays an important part in supporting and allowing the body to move. Healthy feet are critical to regaining balance throughout the lower extremity and preventing further complications.

Stress Fractures

Ankle Sprains occur when fibers of a ligament are torn. The most common type of sprain is called an inversion sprain and is caused when the ankle rolls inward. The injury results in pain, tenderness and swelling on the outside of the ankle, as well as reduced balance and stability.
Plantar Fasciitis is a connective tissue that helps maintain the arch in your feet. With repetitive use, poor footwear and weak arches, the plantar fascia may become inflamed and can cause pain in the sole of the foot, often around the bottom of the heel.
Shin Splints are often the result of over-training, weak muscles and poor range of motion in the foot and ankle. Shin splints are characterized by pain, tenderness and swelling along the shin and weakness in the ankles.
Stress Fractures are one of the most common injuries in sport as they occur when muscles in the foot become fatigued and unable to absorb shock. Eventually the load transfers to the bone causing a tiny crack called a stress fracture. Stress fractures can be identified when there is pain during activity, but it goes away with rest.
