Concussion
There’s no doubt about it, the brain is the most important organ in the body. When a sudden, direct blow, or impact to the head disrupts the function of the brain, it is very literally, traumatic. Mild Traumatic Brain Injury, commonly known as a concussion, can last from days to months depending on the severity and previous concussion history.
Whether it’s the result of a car collision, a sports injury, or a fall, every concussion is different and symptoms may appear immediately, or not for days or weeks. In most cases there is no visible sign, but there are symptoms you can look for.
Some common concussion symptoms include:
- Headaches that won’t go away
- Trouble remembering, concentrating, solving problems
- Sluggish thinking, acting, speaking, or reading
- Easily lost or confused
- Neck pain
- Fatigue, lack of energy
- Change in sleeping habits (too much, or insomnia)
- Loss of balance, light-headedness, dizziness
- Increased sensitivity to light, sounds
- Blurred vision
- Ringing in the ears
- Mood changes – depression, anxiety, easily angered
